Born in Stafford in the Midlands, Claire started competing in athletics at the age of twelve -joining a local athletics club, Cannock and Stafford AC.

A successful junior athletics career followed but was marred by various injuries, which made it hard for her to compete at a top level.

Claire went on to study PE and Sport Science at Loughborough University, representing the World famous sports university in many athletics events.

In 2007, she moved to London to join an elite training squad, but a back injury prevented further progress, returning to Masters athletics in 2015.

She now concentrates on coaching and competing in Masters events – at which she has won international gold medals. She trains with top Olympic coach, Tom McNab, and is currently British, European and World Masters Indoor 60m Champion, 2019 and Britain’s number one Masters W40 60m sprinter.

Through assemblies, PE lessons and group coaching, Claire teaches the basic techniques to give all children – regardless of ability – an understanding of athletics and competence in the core skills involved.

Claire was simply fantastic; full of energy, enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable. The children instantly warmed to Claire and were really taken in by her stories of her time as a competitor and as a coach. The workshops provided challenge, extension and competition - a perfect blend to get the best out of the children, all the while, enjoying themselves immensely. We are excited to welcome Claire back into the school to inspire another generation
