Born in Stafford in the Midlands, Claire started competing in athletics at the age of twelve -joining a local athletics club, Cannock and Stafford AC.
A successful junior athletics career followed but was marred by various injuries, which made it hard for her to compete at a top level.
Claire went on to study PE and Sport Science at Loughborough University, representing the World famous sports university in many athletics events.
In 2007, she moved to London to join an elite training squad, but a back injury prevented further progress, returning to Masters athletics in 2015.
She now concentrates on coaching and competing in Masters events – at which she has won international gold medals. She trains with top Olympic coach, Tom McNab, and is currently British, European and World Masters Indoor 60m Champion, 2019 and Britain’s number one Masters W40 60m sprinter.
Through assemblies, PE lessons and group coaching, Claire teaches the basic techniques to give all children – regardless of ability – an understanding of athletics and competence in the core skills involved.
Her lessons are designed to boost physical health and give youngsters greater confidence and a real sense of self-belief – as well as improving their performance on the athletics field.
She helps them find ways to overcome the physical and mental hurdles that hold them back – and inspires them to keep on going, when they feel like giving up.
During her courses, she encourages them to think about the gifts that they have and how they can use these abilities to help others.
Claire also owns Pure Fitness UK a highly successful personal training business and Five Star Athletics a world class athletics program for children.
